How to compare between hosting company
There are hundred or thousand of hosting companies running in action today, you can easily find a hosting plan provided by these hosting providers to suit your needs. However, there are several factors that you might need to consider before you place an order to the hosting company.
1) After sale service
The after sale service must be fantastic, they should response to your question or request within few hours time, or latest 1 day. The contact point must be as much as possible, in other words, the hosting company must be able to be reached in either by phone, email and even online live help. Be sure that the question is being answered accurately and straight to the point. They are expert in this field, so they must know how to tackle the problem effectively.
The most important thing that you should take into consideration is whether they work 24 hours a day and 7 days a week.
2) Server reputation
The server reputation is very important, if your domain is pointing to a server which is being blacklisted, your domain is unlikely to get a good ranking in search engine. You can check whether is a server IP is being blacklisted here.
3) Server quality and reliability
You have to frequently check the uptime speed of the hosting server and make sure the speed is optimum (more than 99.5%) at all time. Is recommended to have a written guarantee on this requirement before you purchase the hosting plan.
4) BandWidth(BW) transfer
You have to make sure the allowable monthly BW transfer is able to cope with your site traffic, this is important if you allow the visitors to download data from your site. This will easily exceed your BW transfer limit if your site is serving a big traffic.
5) Web disk space
The disk space provided is also important, but it is also depending on your website contents. If your site is serving as an image or video hosting provider, you would probably need a bigger space compare to a article based website. Be sure to decide what you want to do with the hosting package before you purchase. You wouldn’t want to spend more money to purchase a big disk space to run a article based website. (FYI, an article based website only needs about 10MB for 200 pages of contents)
6) Sub domains hosting
if you are running a website which is not fully utilize the web disk space, you may consider to use the disk space with additional sub domain. Some of the hosting company is not providing this feature, if you are planning to run multiple websites with the same hosting, consider this feature.
