Difference between “http” and “https”

The main difference between http:// and https:// is to keep you secure while browsing a website.

HTTP stands for Hypertext Transport Protocol, which is just a fancy way of saying it’s a protocol (a language, in a manner of speaking) for information to be passed back and forth between web servers and clients.

The important thing is the letter “S” which makes the difference between HTTP and HTTPS.

The “S” stands for ‘SECURE’.

If you visit a website or webpage and look at the web address in the web browser, it will likely begin with “http://”

This means that the website is talking to your browser using the regular ‘unsecured’ language. In other words, it is possible for someone to “eavesdrop” on your computer’s conversation with the website.

What is a credit card fraud?

Credit card fraud occurs when there is a theft or fraud in a payment transaction by using a credit card to purchase or obtain unauthorized funds from a particular account. The fraud is usually occurs when there is a credit card stolen, credit card lost, credit card security code stolen, credit card application fraud and account take over.

What should you do if you lost your credit card?

If you lost your credit card, you should immediately report to the credit card issuer and if you feel it is necessary, report to the police too. Once you have report your lost credit card, you are no longer baring the responsibility on any unauthorized use of the credit card.

It is advisable to store all the contact numbers of the banks for any of your credit card, incase of any lost, you can immediately report to the bank without delay. This is important because the credit card is still usable until you notify the bank.

How to prevent your personal information being stolen?

For a standard credit card, it should contains the information as shown below:

  • Name of the card holder
  • Account number
  • Expiration date
  • Verification or CVV code (security code)

All these info can be highly useful for a theft as an additional information of credit card holder verification. With this information, the theft is able to perform payment transaction easily, especially on online transaction. To prevent these informations being stolen, here is some suggestions to share with.

  • Never perform any online transaction outside a security guarded website.
  • Ensure the transaction is made under link address start with “https”.
  • Never reveal any of your credit card information with anybody else.
  • Keep you credit card deep in your purse to prevent easy falls out.

What is Affiliate program?

Affiliate program is an online marketing practise in which the business owner is giving rewards to the participants who bring customers or visitors to purchase their products. The reward is usually will be turned into cash depending on the amount of visitors bring to the business. One of the most popular methods used by the participant in an affiliate program is to create a website to promote or review the products sell by the owner.

How affiliate program work?

There are several popular methods used by the business owner to promote their affiliate program.

  1. Cost per click (CPC)

Cost per click - The participant(publisher) would required to place a link/banner provided by the business owner(advertiser) on their website or blog, the link will be equipped with a link code. When somebody click on the link and visit the advertiser’s website, the publisher get paid.

Cost per impression - The advertiser will place a link/banner in the publisher’s website, when the site’s visitor view the ads, the publisher get paid.

Revenue sharing - This is the most popular method used by the advertiser. When somebody comes from the link/banner on your website and complete a checkout/purchase, the publisher will get part of the cost of the goods sold.

Multi-tier - The advertiser distribute commission into a hierarchical referral network of sign-ups and sub-partners. In general: publisher “A” signs up to the program with an advertiser and gets paid for the agreed activity conducted by a referred visitor.

How to prevent electrical hazard in your home?

Tips on prevent electrical hazard

To make sure there are no electrical hazards happen in your house, you have to make sure and check out few things around your house. Electrical appliances like bulbs, extension cord, adaptor, receptacles and any electrical cable may cause fire.

Tip #1
Do not run extension cord across doorways, under carpets or on the floor without covered. Consider having additional circuits or outlets added by a qualified electrician. Use extension cords only for temporary situation.

Tips #2
Replace any receptacles that are broken, if they do not hold a plug securely, hot to touch, sparks, or makes a noise when you inset or remove a plug. Also replace frayed wires.

Tips #3
Replace any or all faceplates that may be cracked or damaged so you dont accidentally touch a plug to a live portion of the receptacle when plugging your appliance in. Only use multi-plug adapters for a short period of time. Make sure all three slots receptacles have a ground wire available.

Tips #4
Light bulbs can get very hot. Make sure nothing that can burn is close to the bulb. The halogen type light bulbs get very hot and could ignite any combustible material that is too close. Most light fixtures are labeled to show the wattage of the bulb that can be safely used in that fixture or appliace. Do not use a higher watt than it calls for.

Check all the bulbs in every rooms.

Tips #6
Keep your eyes open for dimming lights every time you turn on an appliance. It could mean the circuit may be overloaded or have a loose connection.

Tips #7
If your circuit breakers or fuse keeps tripping it may be an important sign that you have a problem.

If an electrical fire starts at a wall outlet, pull the plug or turn off the main switch.
